Applied physics
Transmission equipment laboratory of interns
Zhang Chang from China, who is currently studying in the national university of Singapore. She's studying for her master's degree in applied physics.
Zhang Chang Dan transmission equipment of the factory laboratory in Iraq as an intern for 10 weeks.
Why did you choose in sumitomo electrical engineering practice?
I always concentrate, had never participated in the internship.Because I will graduate next semester, so I think it may be necessary to get some work experience through practice.I also want to know how to apply knowledge learned in school flexibly in practical production.Sumitomo electric is very famous, its manufacturing technology is very advanced. In addition, the job description is closely related to my major, so I'm sure the global internship program can provide me with some professional training. And one more thing is, I like watching Japanese cartoons and TV series.Japanese culture is very attractive to me, so I'd like to experience personally.
What did you learn from this practice is the most interesting thing?
Our department is very big and well-equipped laboratory. To test the material performance, I need to start from their own samples, and learning how to operate all relevant instruments.I really like precision instruments, including the use and construction. But I'm in college most of the work is through the computer program to simulate the result of the experiment.Even if have a chance to experiment, I use the instrument is not so diverse.
SEI interns is a typical working day?
Work begins at 8:30 in the morning, to the end of the 5:15 in the afternoon, so I always arrive early slightly, Dan factory to do some preparation, and leaving on time. From the dormitory to the company's transportation is very convenient.Every day at noon for an hour lunch and rest time.My team every morning for simple safety education, because the company attaches great importance to production safety.I'm engaged in the research work, so I spend more time in the laboratory clean room doing the experiment.According to the actual progress of work.Waiting for the results at the same time, I can back to the office to handle data, or learning how to operate other precision instruments in the laboratory.Don't have much fun time in the evening, because I need to go to bed early, to ensure that the next day in high spirit.
Practice to shape your career if you have any help?
First of all, the work schedule regular and compact. In college, especially for graduate students, schedule is more flexible, I can be arranged according to the actual situation daily research content. The difference between weekdays and weekend is not obvious. But as an employee, I must try to accept strict work arrangements, and only take the time to deal with personal affairs at the weekend. Before the internship, in this case I do some mental preparation. Then, after an internship, I more sure I'm interested in hardware, not interested in programming or data analysis. The career planning is very meaningful to me.
In the future you plan to attend the internship students have any Suggestions?
First of all, don't be afraid of the language barrier. My native language is not English, and don't speak Japanese, too. This is a chance to try, employees will do our utmost to provide help for you from all aspects. If you get an internship, please seriously and respect the corporate culture. In the end, you will have enough time to visit to nearby cities over the weekend and enjoy Japanese culture, so it's best to collect relevant information in advance.
